Almost all the pots in this category are old clay pots, and their age and years of use can be seen on the surface. Colours, textures, chips, repairs and patina vary, which means that even two pots from the same batch can look quite different.

The material itself can vary too. The pots are made from clay, but with old pots from India, we cannot determine the exact composition. The clay may have been mixed with sand, soil, stone powder or other locally available materials. Nor do we necessarily know their exact age or precisely where in India they originated.

In other words, these are not factory-made products with a standard material specification. They are old objects that have been used before, and variation comes with the territory. If you buy a pot from a larger batch, you should therefore expect it to vary from the model shown. With our one of a kind products, however, you receive the exact piece shown.

How to use vintage pots in your interior

A vintage pot does not necessarily need a function. Its patina, shape and size can be more than enough on their own. But if you want to use the pots actively in your interior, there are plenty of possibilities.

• Let the large planters stand alone
  A large or tall pot can easily fill an empty corner or larger floor area on its own. The biggest models in particular have so much volume and character that adding more decoration can quickly become unnecessary.
• Add dried branches or artificial plants
  They add height and greenery without hiding the pot's patina. If you want to use living plants, always use a watertight inner pot or liner.
• Work with different heights
  If you have the space, grouping several old pots in different sizes can create a strong focal point. Variations in shape, colour and surface keep the arrangement from looking too neat and uniform.
• Place smaller pots higher up
  Not all our old pots are floor-sized giants. Smaller ones can be placed on console tables, racks or other surfaces where you can enjoy their patina up close.

What you need to know

We will say it straight: our old pots are not watertight or frost-proof.

If you want to use them with plants, we recommend:

• Use an inner pot or liner
  A plastic pot or other watertight liner prevents water from coming into direct contact with the pot.
• Place the pot on a saucer
  A saucer can catch excess water and help protect both the pot and the surface beneath it from moisture and marks.
• Raise it slightly off the floor
  Our iron rings can be used as pot feet to lift the pot slightly off the surface. This also makes it easier to spot and wipe away any moisture underneath.
• Use felt pads on delicate surfaces
  They help protect the floor from scratches and marks.
