Wooden table tops in different styles

At Trademark Living, most table tops are made of wood. This includes both classic solid wood table tops in mango wood and table tops made from reclaimed wood. The difference therefore lies less in the material and more in the look.

A solid wood table top adds warmth and structure to the room. The grain and natural colour variations of the wood create a lively look that fits perfectly in cafés, restaurants and shops.

If you want a more raw appearance, you can choose rustic table tops or a reclaimed wood table top made from old cable reels. They are still wooden table tops, but with a stronger expression featuring traces of previous use, small marks in the wood and colour variations that make each table top slightly different from the next.

In the range you will also find a metal table top, which gives a more industrial look. It fits perfectly into interiors where the table should have a bit more edge and withstand a busy environment.

Choose a table base that fits the table

A good table is not only about the table top. Table bases are just as important, as they must provide both stability and the right visual balance.

If you want a light look, a simple and minimalist base can be the right choice. If the table should feel heavier and more robust, a stronger iron base can add character.

A round table base creates more space around the table and makes it easier to move around it. A square base provides a more stable feeling, which is often an advantage in restaurants and cafés with many guests.

When the table top and table base work well together, you get a table that both functions in everyday life and looks good in the space.

Table tops and bases that can be combined

At Trademark Living you will find a wide range of table tops and table bases that can be combined in many ways. This makes it easy to create everything from small café tables to large communal tables.

The range includes wooden table tops, rustic table tops, reclaimed wood table tops and more raw options such as metal table tops. At the same time you will find many types of table bases in different shapes and sizes.

This allows you to create a table that fits your interior perfectly. A table for guests, work or meetings – simply a table that is meant to be used.

FAQ about wooden table tops and table bases

Can all table tops be used with all table bases?

Not quite. The size, height and weight capacity of the table base must match the table top. A heavy reclaimed wood table top requires a sturdy base, while lighter table tops offer more flexibility.

Height also matters. We offer table bases in different heights for coffee tables and dining tables, and they are not all designed for the same purpose. A base may be strong enough for a particular table top in one height, but not be available in a version with the same capacity in another height.

When choosing a table base, consider the size, weight and intended use of the table. If you're unsure, feel free to contact us. It's much easier to get it right from the beginning than to end up with a table top that lacks the right foundation.

What should I know about wooden table tops?

Wood is a natural living material. This means wooden table tops may move slightly over time depending on temperature and humidity. Small variations, grain patterns and colour differences are therefore part of their character, especially with reclaimed wood table tops.

Wood also requires a little maintenance to stay looking its best, particularly if the table is used daily in a café, restaurant or as a dining table.

In return, you'll get a table top with warmth, texture and a surface that only becomes more beautiful with use.

How many table bases do I need for one table top?

It depends on the size of your table top. Smaller table tops for cafés and coffee tables are usually supported by one central table base. Larger dining table tops typically require two or more bases to distribute the weight and ensure stability.

As a general guideline:

  • Table tops under 130 cm → 1 table base
  • Table tops from 130 cm and above → 1 to 3 table bases

This is a practical guideline. The final solution depends on the weight and construction of the table top.

What size table top matches my table base?

It's all about balance. The table base should be smaller than the table top to ensure the table stands securely without tipping.

As a rule of thumb, the base should be 20 to 40 cm narrower than the table top in both length and width. This provides good weight distribution and comfortable legroom around the table.

For larger table tops, it's important that the base is not only the right size but also capable of supporting the weight. In many cases, this means using multiple bases or choosing a heavier-duty solution.

How thick should a table top be?

For dining tables, we recommend a solid wood table top with a thickness of approximately 3 to 5 cm to withstand everyday use. Coffee table tops can be slightly thinner, depending on the construction and intended use.

The larger and heavier the table top, the more important the thickness becomes for overall stability.

What should I consider when choosing a round table top?

Round table tops work best with a central table base. This provides better balance and more legroom around the table.

Make sure the base is large enough for the diameter of the table top. The larger the table top, the greater the demands on stability.
