CUSHION COVERS & RUGS

Sometimes it's the soft furnishings that give an interior its edge. At Trademark Living, you'll find cushion covers and rugs with colours, patterns and patina that do anything but blend into the wallpaper. Our Moroccan vintage rugs are old, handmade wool rugs, and several of our cushion covers are sewn from original rugs that have been given a new purpose.

These aren't perfectly uniform, mass-produced pieces. Every rug has its own character, and the same goes for the cushion covers. Explore the collection, whether you're furnishing a café, a shop, a hotel or a living room that deserves to stand out a little.

Moroccan vintage rugs with a story in every thread

Our Moroccan vintage rugs are handmade wool rugs rooted in weaving traditions passed down through generations. Many of these traditions originate with the Amazigh people, for whom weaving has historically been part of everyday family life.

The rugs were originally made to be used, not simply to look pretty on a showroom floor. And that's part of their charm. Colours may have faded, patterns may be asymmetrical, and some rugs have small repairs or visible signs of wear.

You'll find everything from large rugs for living rooms to smaller rugs and narrow hallway runners, with long, short or almost no pile. What they all have in common is that every rug is unique. Once it's sold, there won't be an identical replacement waiting in the warehouse.

Decorative cushion covers full of personality

A sofa without cushions can look a little bare. But who says sofa cushions have to be plain and match the curtains?

Our Moroccan cushion covers are made from vintage rugs that have been cut and transformed into new home accessories. This means the original colours, patterns and textures live on in a different form.

You'll find square cushion covers in 50 x 50 cm and rectangular cushion covers in 40 x 60 cm. The covers are sold without inserts, so you can pair them with a suitable cushion pad.

From café lounges to living room floors

Rugs and decorative cushions can make large, open spaces feel more inviting and help create smaller, cosy areas. This applies just as much to commercial interiors as it does to homes.

Here are a few ideas for where textiles can make a difference:

  • Cafés and restaurants: Give lounge chairs and two-seater sofas a softer look with colourful cushions.
  • Hotels and offices: Create inviting waiting areas and seating spaces with textiles that add warmth and personality.
  • Shops and showrooms: Use a colourful vintage rug to set the scene for a product display.
  • Living rooms and homes: Place a large rug beneath a coffee table to bring the furniture together into one cosy seating area.
  • Entrances and hallways: Use a narrow rug runner to introduce colour and texture without taking up unnecessary floor space.

If you love Moroccan textiles, take a closer look at our Atlas rug pouf, which is also made from old vintage rugs.

How do you choose the right rug?

Start by considering where the rug will go and how much use it will get.

A large lounge rug can bring furniture together in a seating area, while a smaller rug can make a lovely focal point. If you're looking for a rug to place beneath a dining table, a short pile or flat weave is often more practical, as chairs are easier to move.

Wool is naturally a durable and resilient material, and many Moroccan rugs have already been used for decades. But vintage is vintage. The condition of each rug varies, so always consider where you plan to use it and how much foot traffic it will need to handle.

Found a favourite? Take a good look at the product measurements and photos. Vintage rugs can vary in both shape and finish, and that's exactly part of what makes them interesting.

FAQ about cushion covers and rugs

What is the difference between a vintage rug and a new rug?

A vintage rug has already been used and may therefore show patina, signs of wear and previous repairs. Our Moroccan vintage rugs are handmade originals, where variations in colours, patterns and dimensions are a natural part of their character.

How do you care for a Moroccan wool rug?

Vacuum regularly using a standard nozzle without a rotating brush. Rotate the rug a couple of times a year to distribute wear evenly, and avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight. If you spill something, gently blot the stain rather than scrubbing. Use a professional rug cleaning service when needed.

Can Moroccan rugs be used as wall hangings?

Yes, some Moroccan rugs also work beautifully as wall hanging rugs. Smaller, lighter pieces are particularly suitable, allowing their colours and patterns to become a feature on the wall. Make sure the hanging method distributes the weight evenly without damaging the weave.

Are all Moroccan cushion covers the same?

No. As the cushion covers are made from different sections of old rugs, colours, patterns and patina can vary from one cover to another. That's part of the charm of vintage textiles, and a great reason to handpick your favourites.
